In case anybody is worrying about me, the wildfires in New Jersey are thirty miles away from me (in two different directions), so I don't see or smell any smoke. We got weird weather - heavy flooding rainstorms followed by dry windy weather, with an occasional thunderstorm thrown in, and people do things like throw lit cigarettes out of their car window, or decide to have a barbecue in a public park, and fires get started. No, the fires aren't caused by the fire chief being a lesbian, just by weather and simple stupid human carelessness. But since I'm less than a mile from the water of the Atlantic Ocean, I think my neighborhood is fairly safe from such fires. (I HOPE!)
The fire was started deliberately, by somone who had some wooden pallets and used them to build a bonfire. He walked away without putting out the fire,so it spread quickly. The alleged perp was arrested.
